Weight Loss
A Plan Built Around Your Body, Not a Template
Weight has a lot of moving parts. Hormones, sleep, medication history, thyroid function, insulin resistance, stress, and metabolism all play a role, and none of that shows up on a bathroom scale. That is why medical weight loss starts with an actual evaluation rather than a diet plan handed to everyone who walks in.
Dr. Vanessa Vélez Martínez will review your health history, order the labs that matter, and look for the physiological factors that may be working against you. From there she builds a plan that fits your body and your life. That may include oral or injectable medication, and it always includes guidance on nutrition, activity, and the habits that make results hold.

Medical Support Alongside Real Guidance
For many patients, prescription weight management medication makes a genuine difference. These medications work by slowing digestion, reducing appetite signals, and helping regulate blood sugar, which makes eating less feel manageable rather than like a constant fight. Dr. Vélez will determine whether medication is appropriate for you and monitor you closely throughout.
Medication alone is not the whole answer, though, and we are honest about that. Our program pairs any medical treatment with practical support around nutrition, diet, and exercise, adapted to what actually fits your schedule and preferences. You will come in for regular check ins so we can track progress, adjust dosing, and address anything that comes up along the way.

How do I know if I am a candidate for weight loss medication?
That gets decided during your evaluation. Dr. Vélez will review your health history, current medications, and lab work to determine whether medication is appropriate and safe for you. Not everyone is a candidate, and she will tell you directly either way.
How quickly should I expect to lose weight?
Steady, gradual loss is both healthier and more likely to last than rapid drops. Most patients on a supervised plan see consistent progress month over month. Dr. Vélez will set realistic expectations with you at the start based on your starting point and health picture.
Will I need to follow a strict diet?
We do not hand out rigid meal plans that nobody can sustain. Guidance is tailored to your preferences, your schedule, and what you actually eat, with adjustments that move you forward without making food feel like a punishment.
What happens once I reach my goal?
Maintenance is part of the plan from the beginning. Dr. Vélez will work with you on the transition, whether that means tapering medication, adjusting your approach, or simply continuing regular check ins so the weight you lost stays off.
